Experience with one or more of the following areas:
membrane characterization for breathability and gas/vapor separation applications, including permeability and selectivity studies, pore size distribution determination, and imaging techniques (SEM, TEM).
Experience with nanocomposite membrane fabrication and surface modification/ functionalization, as well as assembly on porous supports/backing layers.
Experience with phase-inversion or related techniques for porous support fabrication.
Ability to understand and analyze transport experiments and nanocomposite fabrication processes.
Ability as an innovative experimentalist with a broad range of experience in experimental design, techniques, and execution.
Demonstrated ability to develop independent research projects as demonstrated through publication of peer-reviewed literature.
Proficient verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment and present and explain technical information.
Desired Qualifications
Experience with carbon-nanotube/polymer composite membrane fabrication and vapor-phase polymer deposition techniques.
Experience in synthetic chemistry and/or surface modification, fabrics design for protective clothing, and experimental equipment design/development.
Experience with LabView.
