Information Technology Specialist

This position is located in the Department of Energy, Office of Inspector General (OIG), Office of the Assistant Inspector General for Technology, Financial, and Analytics (OTFA) as an Information Technology (IT) Specialist (SYSAnalysis/Data Management), the individual selected will be responsible for:
Creating conceptual, logical, and physical data models for Online Transnational Processing (OLTP) or Online Analytical Processing (OLAP) use. Designing and developing ETL extract, transform, loads processes in various database environments, including Oracle, SQL, and others. Employing both with operational relational databases and integrated data warehouses in Oracle, SQL, and/or other systems. Researching and implementing the creation and interpretation of business and technical requirements. Researching, analyzing and the capability of the databases to respond to new and changing requirements, lends feasibility studies of new database technology, such as developing new trends that integrate data analytics. Mentoring and providing assistance and direction in the training of lower graded analysts, IT specialists, as well as assistance to other OIG functions. You may qualify for this position based on specialized experience. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position being filled. To qualify for the GS-13 grade level, you must possess one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level. To qualify for the GS-14 grade level, you must possess one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 grade level. Examples of specialized experience include:
Working with customers to generate audit, inspection, and investigative referrals and leads. Querying of and data extraction from various complex databases, both commercial and home-grown, used throughout the complex. Solving significant problems complicated by interfaces and inter-relationships between and among programs, systems, functions, policies, data and numerous critical issues for agency-wide data information solutions, operations, and maintenance within the various databased environments. The successful applicant for this position will possess the following KSAs/competencies:

Demonstrated experience both with operational relational databases and integrated data warehouses in Oracle, SQL, and/or other systems. Demonstrated experience with data security, privacy, and encryption from a database perspective. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
